Giving myself the opportunity here to reflect and dream a little bit as I look back at pictures of me from this year’s TEDx Asheville..

I am caught in awe by what I look like when I am back in my element. Back in that place where I am energized and clear. In this place, my value is known and my work is fully valued. It's a place where I use the best of my skills for the purpose of clear communication of ideas from the idea holders to an audience that is TEDxAsheville and the world beyond. I love this work of idea spreading and producing the technical aspects. I love being in a space where new ideas are being imagined, new ideas are being shared, new ideas are even being challenged or maybe old ideas are being challenged!

I remember returning home after the event… it was a day that started at 730am and I returned home around 730pm that Sunday. And contrary to what you might expect, I was FULL of energy.. itching to play and imagine and explore more! Diana, my wife, commented about how this is my element and it makes sense that I experience a charge from doing this work that is intimately linked to my life’s work!

Also… I can’t ignore that I’m filled with a little bit of depression from it being something of the past and not of my present or my current future planning. I struggle to understand how to stay connected to the real work… to my life’s work. I miss the hustle and creating mitigation strategies for broken tech when things go down. I miss being part of a team, trusting all the parts to bring their best, and the excitement of being right in the moment as the words are being spoken from the stage. And now the anticipating that comes while waiting for the final release of the vids. Mmm mmm, it’s delicious to my very core! Some primal need/desire is being met and I don’t want to shake it away.

This year’s theme was Building Bridges; Opening Doors and I continue to inquire within about what bridges I am building.. and what doors I can open for others. All the speakers brought both a personal view and universal truths to the table and I hope their messages reach far and wide to the people who most need to hear them!

I hope I will see you all sooner than NEXT year! But if I don't, keep smiling and know that the world comes more in to focus when you do!
