this is my journal entry from the 6-session journaling series with Mike Namkung. the original prompt from 2/14: something else my father gave me.
adventure
camping travel
making things
doing things
i remember being young
when i stopped enjoying these
with him

somewhere in there
we returned home and as the door of the house opened
his back
leg
and foot
punted me across the house
i never came down
and still
i don't know what i did
why he got so angry about it
but i do remember camping
his favorite story is
the one when he woke up in the middle of the night
to find me not on my cot in my sleeping bag
but on top of him and his cot
we were both surprised and i remember laughing together about it
when he gently woke me up to move me back to my side of the tent
we didn't talk about it for years
the intimacy of sleep
or awkwardness of being too close as father and son
as two male bodies
we were a road tripping family
which was always odd to me
given dad was a bomber pilot
my childhood imagination
why cant we just hop into one of his b52s?
